ROUTE DESCRIPTION

This route includes lakes and historic temples in Dedoplistskaro surroundings, but its main attractions are open spaces and panoramic views. The route starts from the Dedoplistskaro center and heads to St. Elia Tezbitelis Monastery, which is built on the steep slopes of the limestone rock. The existing church was built in 2006, on the remainders of VI century temple. From here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Iori plateau and Kochebi Lake. This is naturally salty lake and in the summer there is no lack of guests willing to cool up. From the Elia temple, the route runs along the Kochebi Lake and toward the St. Seraphim Saroveli temple, located in village Samreklo. There is a version that it’s the world’s first church, built and named after this saint. After visiting the temple, the route goes across several districts of the village to Small Lake. There are beautiful views from the rode on the lake, Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains. From here, begins the most difficult section of the route with a length of 800 meter and change in elevation of 150 m. This section goes through the sparse forest which gives favorable conditions to look around. After elevating, you can enjoy spectacular panorama views. From this place, pleasant descent starts and the route returns back to Dedoplistskaro.
