Car route in Dedoplistskaro villages

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
This car route mainly covers historical parts of Dedoplistskaro Municipality and gives the opportunity to explore the nature and cultural heritage of these areas.
The route begins in Dedoplistskaro center and follows along the way to Tbilisi, passes through the village Gamarjveba and turns on to the dirt road, between arable lands. After slight distance, you will see wide vineyards and orchards. These are Gziriani Vineyards and from the grapes, many sorts of wonderful wines are made. Nearby is a small size basilica of Dambadebeli Church. From Gziriani, route goes toward the village Arboshiki, where you can visit St. Kvirike Church. Next stop is village Mirzaani. Here you can visit Alaverdi Church and Niko Phirosmani House-Museum, where alongside with artists’ works, one can see exponents, depicting local life. From Mirzaani, the route heads towards the village Zemo Machkhaani, where you can visit St. George’s Church and afterwards, continue your way to village Kvemo Machkhaani. In the village you can visit house-museum of Phore Mosulishvili (Died in World War II), the national hero of Italy and USSR. From Kvemo Machkhaani, the way goes toward the village Tibaani, where one of the thirteen Assyrian Fathers – Stephen Khirseli founded monastery in the VI century. From Tibaani, the route enters the village Ozaani and turns to the direction of Amagleba Church (XII-XIII cc.). The road passes through the forest to reach the temple and keep in mind that 4×4 vehicle will be needed in a rainy weather. Afterwards, the route returns to Ozaani and heads to Dedoplistskaro.
