Chachuna Managed Reserve
Chachuna Managed Reserve is located at a distance of 50 km from Dedoplistskaro municipal center, along the coast of the Iori river, which has an area of 21 200 ha. It includes the last fragment of the South Caucasian floodplain forests and is characterized by biodiversity. Rare and endangered species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects are presented here.
Long-legged oak, pomegranate, and common barberry are mainly represented in the forests. Chachuna Managed Reserve is proud of quaking aspens (Populus tremula). The name of the managed reserve is associated with them – when the rays of the sun warm the just awaken nature during the winter frost, the branches of the quaking aspens move down, thaw, and start rattling. The environment is filled with marvelous sounds.
