May 18, 2026
The Late Bronze-Early Iron Age settlement at Nazarlebi mountain (Shiraki, Dedoplistskaro Municipality) is being studied by a joint expedition of the Laboratory of Visual Anthropology and Local History of Ilia State University and the Institute of Oriental Archaeology and Art of the Martin Luther University in Halle (Germany).
During the ongoing archaeological fieldwork on the territory of the settlement, a unique treasure trove of bronze agricultural and cult objects was discovered near the western wall in the interior of the cult building located in the central part of the citadel of the settlement. About 200 imitation bronze swords were found here, as well as bronze sickles, awls, axes, swords, a bronze double-edged axe, and more.
Scientists continue their research.
