Estonians strengthen tourism in Dedoplistskaro, Georgia
In 2021-2023, a quality program for rural tourism facilities was already implemented in Dedoplistskaro Municipality in cooperation with the Estonian Rural Tourism Organization (ERTO) and Dedoplistskaro Tourism Development Association (DTDA). The project was financed by ESTDEV – Estonian Center for International Development Cooperation.
The progress of the project and already achieved results were discussed at the meeting of the heads of the Estonian Rural Tourism Organization (ERTO): Raili Mengel, Silja Lehtpuu, Katrin Papp, Elin Prix and the head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration Maia Omiadze.
In order to offer improved services to customers within the framework of the quality program, in the first week of April, a cycle of training on various topics held for representatives of tourism businesses in the hotel “Autograph”.
To receive tourism services using innovative/ecological solutions is important for European visitors. The topics of the training of Tornike Darjania, the head of Helios-Energy company, were: the potential of solar energy in Georgia and Dedoplistskaro, the economic usefulness of solar power plants, the electric car industry, and the possibilities of its use in the region
, the principles of energy-efficient construction, solar water heating systems, reduction ways of the costs of tourist services, heating with electricity: heat pumps and their management systems. Mr. Tornike also answered the questions of the attendees on these topics.
Mrs. Elin Prix, a bachelor in marketing and advertising, and a master’s in international business management and public relations, visited the Tourism Development Association. She talked about the peculiarities of creating modern tourism products and selling tourist services/products on the Internet.
Speaking about social media platforms and online marketing on Google My Business, Ms. Elin reviewed Georgia’s statistics of social network users and focused on developing the right marketing strategy using this data. She tried to help local service providers, find the answer to the most important questions: how to find clients for their services, what is their unique selling point, and how does it come out?
Individual consultations were also held for interested local entrepreneurs.
Local producers of handicrafts and souvenirs were interested in the training held at the Tourism Association of offering handicrafts and souvenirs as a cultural tourism service to visitors, where Estonian entrepreneurs shared their experiences with local entrepreneurs.

Then there was a discussion on the topic: The potential of the Dedoplistskaro tourism sector and service providers to create attractive offers of handicrafts and other souvenirs for visitors.
The self-evaluation process of local tourism services continues within the quality program of rural tourism facilities. A study visit program for successful entrepreneurs to Estonia has already been drawn up. The list of study visit participants will be finalized by April 20.
