For guides and culinary tourism businesses

The Estonian-Georgian project continues in Dedoplistskaro…

As the reader knows, it is already possible for local tourism businesses to go through the self-assessment process on the association’s website and, after meeting the set percentage of mandatory and recommended criteria, apply to the Dedoplistskaro Tourism Development Association for a “Good Host” certificate and label. The self-evaluation process helps existing businesses, evaluate the strengths of their services and identify areas for improvement. For those people, who have a desire to get involved in the tourism business and like to work in the service sector, the criteria allow to motivate themselves to start and properly manage their business, to make development plans.

The Estonian Rural Tourism Organization helps us in improving the quality of service through training. These days, training for guides and drivers, employed in nature tourism, was held in a hotel Autograph with theoretical and practical parts. It was held training on the topics: “organization of culinary events, marketing of the region as a culinary tourist destination” and “development of offers/services and partnership cooperation”.

Biodiversity protection specialist Teimuraz Popiashvili, Tartu University professor Marika Kosse and labor safety specialist, and certified trainer Zurab Shanshashvili made very useful presentations on the direction of nature tourism. They introduced the guides and drivers, attended the training, and the mandatory activities and procedures required for proper planning, proper equipment, and safe conduct of the tour. On the second day, the training participants had some practice in nature.
